MAKE YOUR OWN VIDEO GAME!

What you’ll need: A computer, Chromebook or iPad, an internet connection, and one device per student or pair. No coding experience needed. Test the school’s devices and network beforehand.

1. Join — 5 minutes

Enter the class code, then your first name or classroom nickname.

2. Create — 30 minutes

Create a game you'd actually want your friends to play.

Try a racer, adventure, pet simulator or something ridiculous. Play your game often and keep changing it.

Makerplay uses AI, and a generated game may be wrong or fail to build. Ask students to describe what they expected and what happened, then try one change with the coach. If it stays stuck, move to a working game or sketch the idea on paper and contact us. A system failure is not the student’s fault.

3. Showcase — 10 minutes

Play several games together.

Questions you can ask

• What makes your game fun?
• How did you think about the game? How did your idea change as you built and played it?
• Was it too easy, too hard, or just right? What did you change so the difficulty felt fair?
• If you had more time, what would you add or change next?
• What inspired this game?
• What did you put on your Game Board first, and why?
